Time is DancingHand-Drawn Animation
Procreate, After Effects
2026I view nature as a source of comfort, especially in moments of anxiety and isolation, however in reality it often feels as mysterious and eerie as it does a refuge. Living in New York City makes it difficult to feel connected to the natural world, and I often feel the contrast of being both innately part of it and permanently separate. Many of us feel as if we are not taught how to interact with the outdoors: how to sustain and nuture it, how to take from it without causing damage, or even how to feel safe within it. This animation uses mythical and surreal visuals to create a dreamlike cycle of evolution between natural elements, while the human exists as an individual within the world; both a catalyst and a witness. Time is Dancing, a title inspired by Ben Howard’s song Time is Dancing represents the eb and flow of this relationship, which often feels like it exists outside of time.
